What is Lasso Selection in LusoCAD?<\/h3>

A\u00a0<\/span>Selection by Lasso<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>allows you to define a selection area\u00a0<\/span>irregular<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>and freely with the mouse, instead of being limited to rectangular windows.
With this tool, you can create:<\/p>

  • A <\/span>Window Lasso<\/em> <\/span>(selects objects only completely inside the shape)<\/li>
  • A\u00a0<\/span>Crossing Lasso<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>(selects objects within and across the shape)<\/li>
  • A\u00a0<\/span>Lasso in Fence mode<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>(selects objects that the fence line crosses)<\/li><\/ul>

    This is especially useful in dense areas of the drawing, where a rectangular window would catch too many unwanted objects.<\/p>

    How to use Lasso Selection<\/h3>

      <\/ol>

      1. Start the selection<\/strong><\/p>

        • Place the cursor in the drawing area.<\/li>
        • Press and\u00a0<\/span>press and hold<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>the left mouse button.

          <\/li><\/ul><\/li>

        • Free-form drawing<\/strong><\/p>

          • While keeping the button pressed,\u00a0<\/span>drag<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>the mouse to draw the lasso around the objects you want to select.<\/li>
          • You can curve and bend the line freely to follow the shape of the geometry.

            <\/li><\/ul><\/li>

          • Completing the lasso<\/strong><\/p>

            • Let go of the mouse button.<\/li>
            • When you let go, LusoCAD completes the lasso and selects the objects according to the current lasso mode (window, intersection or fence).<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>

              How to deactivate Lasso Selection in LusoCAD<\/h3>

              If you prefer to use only traditional rectangular selection windows, you can deactivate lasso selection:<\/p>

              1. Open the dialogue box\u00a0<\/span>Options<\/strong>.<\/li>
              2. Go to the\u00a0<\/span>Selection<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>(or\u00a0<\/span>Selection Set<\/em>).<\/li>
              3. Locate the option\u00a0<\/span>\u201cAllow press and drag for Lasso\u201d<\/strong>.<\/li>
              4. Switch off<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>(remove check) in this option to switch off Lasso selection.<\/li>
              5. Click on\u00a0<\/span>OK<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>or\u00a0<\/span>Apply<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>to confirm.<\/li><\/ol>

                After that, pressing and dragging with the mouse will no longer create a lasso; it will just have the standard selection behaviour.<\/p>

                How to switch between Lasso Selection modes<\/h3>

                LusoCAD offers\u00a0<\/span>three lasso modes<\/strong>:<\/p>

                • Window Lasso<\/strong><\/li>
                • Crossing Lasso<\/strong><\/li>
                • Lasso in fence mode<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>

                  While you are creating a lasso, you can press the\u00a0<\/span>Spacebar<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>to switch between these modes. Each press of the space bar switches to the next mode.<\/p>

                  Lasso selection modes in detail<\/h3>

                  1. Window Lasso<\/h4>
                  • How to use:<\/strong>
                    • Press and hold down the left mouse button.<\/li>
                    • Drag from\u00a0<\/span>left to right<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>to draw the lasso.

                      <\/li><\/ul><\/li>
                    • Effect:<\/strong>
                      • Only objects are selected\u00a0<\/span>completely involved<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>by the shape of the lasso.<\/li>
                      • Any object that is only partially inside the area\u00a0<\/span>no<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>is selected.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>

                        Use this mode when you want very strict control and want to avoid selecting objects that only lightly touch the selection area.<\/p>

                        2. Crossing Lasso<\/h4>
                        • How to use:<\/strong>
                          • Press and hold down the left mouse button.<\/li>
                          • Drag from\u00a0<\/span>right to left<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>to draw the lasso.

                          • Effect:<\/strong>
                            • Objects that are\u00a0<\/span>inside<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>lasso or\u00a0<\/span>crossed<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>by its limit.<\/li>
                            • This usually results in more objects being selected than with the window lasso.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>

                              Use this mode when you want to quickly select a set of elements, even if they are only partially within the area.<\/p>

                              3. Lasso in Fence mode<\/h4>
                              • How to use:<\/strong>
                                • Whilst in lasso mode, press the Spacebar until you reach\u00a0<\/span>Fence<\/strong>.<\/li>
                                • Click to specify several points that define a line of\u00a0<\/span>fence<\/em>.

                                • Effect:<\/strong>
                                  • Any object that the fence line\u00a0<\/span>cross<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>is selected.<\/li>
                                  • It's not necessary to completely enclose the objects; it's enough for the fence to intersect them.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>

                                    This mode is ideal for selecting objects along a route, such as lines along a corridor, grids or elements aligned in one direction.<\/p>
