The digital signatures<\/a> are an essential security feature in LusoCAD, allowing users to verify the authenticity, origin and integrity of drawing files. When a drawing is digitally signed, any unauthorised modification or corruption immediately invalidates the signature \u2014 ensuring reliable file management and secure collaboration.<\/span><\/p>

In this article, you'll learn how digital signatures work in LusoCAD, how to validate them and how to apply them to individual or multiple drawing files.<\/p>

What is a Digital Signature in LusoCAD?<\/h2>

A digital signature adds encrypted identification information to a design file. This signature confirms:<\/p>

  • Who created or approved the document<\/li>
  • If the file has been changed<\/li>
  • If the file remains in its original, reliable state<\/li><\/ul>

    If the design is altered after being signed, the digital signature becomes invalid.<\/p>

    Commands to Manage Digital Signatures<\/h2>

    1. DIGITALSIGN<\/h3>

    The command DIGITALSIGN<\/strong> applies a digital signature to a drawing.<\/p>

    After executing the command, the Security options<\/em>. By activating the \u201cAttach digital signature after saving the design\u201d<\/strong>, you can:<\/p>

    • Select a digital ID (certificate)<\/li>
    • Add details to the signature, such as date\/time stamps or comments<\/li><\/ul>

      If your computer does not have a valid digital ID, LusoCAD will inform you.<\/p>

        • SIGWARN = 1<\/strong> \u2192 Warning displayed when opening a signed file<\/li><\/ul>

          Supported file formats<\/h2>

          Digital signatures can only be applied to files compatible with the drawing formats of LusoCAD 2000 or later.<\/p>

          How to Attach a Digital Signature to a Single Design<\/h2>

          Follow these steps:<\/p>

          Method 1: Via the Tools Menu<\/h3>
          1. Open Tools \u2192 Options<\/em><\/li>
          2. Go to the System<\/em><\/li>
          3. Click on Security options<\/em><\/li><\/ol>

            Method 2: Via the Save As Menu<\/h3>
            1. Open File \u2192 Save As<\/em><\/li>
            2. In the dialogue box, click Tools \u2192 Digital Signatures<\/em><\/li><\/ol>

              Then:<\/p>

              • Activate Attach Digital Signature After Saving the Design<\/strong><\/li>
              • (Optional) Add a timestamp or comment<\/li><\/ul>

                How to Attach a Digital Signature to Multiple Drawings<\/h2>

                LusoCAD allows you to sign several drawings in batches:<\/p>

                1. Open Windows Start Menu \u2192 All Programmes \u2192 LusoCAD \u2192 Attach Digital Signatures<\/em><\/li>
                2. Click on Add files<\/strong><\/li>
                3. Select all the files you want to sign<\/li>
                4. Choose a digital ID (certificate)<\/li>
                5. Select a date\/time stamp service (optional)<\/li>
                6. Add comments if necessary<\/li>
                7. Click on Sign Files<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>

                  If a file is read-only, LusoCAD will ask you how you want to proceed:<\/p>

                  • Yes<\/strong>: sign this file<\/li>
                  • Use the same answer for everyone<\/strong>: apply the same choice to all read-only files<\/li>
                  • No<\/strong>: ignore this file<\/li>
                  • Cancel<\/strong>: stop the signing process<\/li><\/ul>

                    If your digital ID has medium or high security, LusoCAD may request additional confirmation during the process.<\/p>

                    Upon completion, a summary is displayed showing how many files have been successfully signed.<\/p>
